Chair of Gifting tool
The Chair of Gifting (COG) is a structured learning tool built around a shared-journey metaphor: we’re all “in the same boat,” exploring and discovering together. Learning here is relational and experiential, grounded in real moments, practice, and shared reflection.
At the same time, the Chair honours each person’s autonomy. You decide what stands out to you, what you want to take with you, and how you want to grow. Through the interplay of three core roles, Receiver, the Givers, and Facilitator, and the use of powerful, gift-framed questions, everyone learns by doing, observing, receiving, and reflecting. This shared experience deepens insight and strengthens each person’s coaching practice.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Explain what the Chair of Gifting is and describe its purpose in a group setting.
2. Identify practical ways the functions of the different roles support each other.
3. Use the Chair of Gifting effectively as a group tool.
4. Demonstrate effective group work and communication skills while participating in Chair of Gifting activities.
